Proper Ways to Clean Your Laptop or PC Screen

The TFT or LCD screen of your notebook or desktop computer is sensitive to fingerprints and dust. Unlike the standard CRT monitors with glass screens, you are not advised to clean an LCD Monitor by wiping it with a piece of dry lint-free cloth since the sensitive display is likely to get scratches from dust particles. 

So how do you clean an LCD monitor screen without buying any of those expensive LCD Monitor Cleaner solutions or Monitor Wipes available today? Here are the proper methods and precautions before you clean the monitor. This should also apply to projection TV’s, HDTV’s, and plasma TV’s as well. 

Be Gentle- Be very gentle and never put even the slightest pressure on the computer screen with your hand. 

Soft Cotton Cloth Only – Do not use tissue paper, toilet paper or even wash rags as the fabric will scratch your screen permanently 

Turn the Computer Off - This will easily help you identify the dirty areas of the monitor.

Deionized or Distilled Water  and Vinegar or Iso-Propyl Alcohol Solution (IPA) – Do not use tap water or mineral water as they could leave white marks on the screen because of the dissolved salts.  How to make solution: Dilute the vinegar or IPA with distilled water [1:1] and spray this liquid on the cloth. Never ever spray liquid directly onto the LCD screen. Moisten the cloth with this homemade LCD cleaner and gently move the wet cloth in just one direction - from top to bottom.

Cautions: Be sure that the LCD screen is dry before closing it or using the computer. Do not use any solutions that contain Acetone, ethyl alcohol, toluene, ethyl acid, ammonia, or methyl chloride. Never touch the LCD screen with your fingers as this can cause the pixels to burn out.

 

New Facebook Fan Page to Post Funny Boot Camp Stories

Did you go to boot camp or basic training? Did anything embarrassing or funny happen to you or to someone in your unit?

The web site was launched by the CEO of Fast Tweets, Nancy Brown. She had been in Marine boot camp in 1977, and with a son about to go to Army basic, she thought about all the things that had happened to her.  She could remember almost everything that happened to her in basic, and many of the incidents were very funny. She wanted to tell the world and there wasn't any way to do this, so she launched the Facebook Funny Boot Camp Stories page.

Facebook Expert Friday is the Successful Way to Connect with your Facebook Fans

Did you know that many people do not visit your Facebook fan page wall, but rather connect with you through their daily Facebook News Feed?

Do you know that some people may never visit your Facebook fan page, yet are a fan of your page? They can do this by Liking your page from another web site or page on the Internet. After they Like your page in that manner they will begin seeing your posts in their News Feed. So, unless you invite them to visit your wall, or give them a reason to visit your page, they may never ever see your Facebook fan page. 

The normal person who is logged into their own Facebook personal page will see your Facebook posts through their NEWS FEED, not by going to your Facebook wall. 

So, what does that mean for you as a business owner? It means that you must find a way to pull your fans into your Facebook page. How can this be done? My company has a very unique way to connect with our fans each Friday morning.  We hold a Facebook Expert Friday session.

How to Acquire the RSS Feed for your your Facebook Fan Page Status Posts

The other day I had the need to acquire the RSS feed URL of one of my client's Facebook fan pages. I needed the RSS feed URL for the statuses, not the notifications. Twitter makes it easy to find the RSS notification URL, but not the status URL.  Since I had no idea how to set this up, I searched online for a couple hours until I found the simple answer. 

All you have to do is open your Facebook fan page while in Firefox. Then you will see the orange RSS feed logo to the right of the URL.  Click on the RSS logo and verify your account. Then, on the next screen you will have your RSS feed URL.  It was that easy! 

Learn How Facebook Ads Can Be Very Effective

Have you thought about using Facebook Ads? They are a very effective tool for targeting specific people ad areas of the country, allowing you to target by age, city, state, sex, profession, educational level, etc. 

I always have clients that ask my opinion of this advertising medium, such as a question asked today on my weekly Facebook Expert Friday session on the Fast Tweets Facebook wall. 

How does a Facebook ad appear on your targeted audience Facebook pages? Facebook is aware of the interests of their users and your ad appears on the right sidebar of the Facebook members that fall in your targeted audience selection.

Facebook has made it very simple to design the ad, choose your target audience, and then select the amount of money you want to spend daily on your campaign. I suggest that you run your campaign for a two week period, pause the ad, and then analyze your results. 

The results you will be looking for include: an increase in Facebook fans, website visits, calls to your company, or sales. What if you don't see any of these results in the two week period? I then suggest that you redesign your Facebook ad, review your targeted audience, increase the amount you spend daily and run the campaign for a second two week period. 

You can run your Facebook ad for any length of time that you desire, and you can stop it very easily in your Dashboard. I suggest that you give it a try and remember to analyze your results after the first two weeks.
